It’s not often an author plugs another’s book but I feel compelled to tell you about The
Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht (TWWWW). Wheesht is a Scots word for ‘hush’ or ‘keep quiet’ (my mother often used it!). This collection of heartfelt essays tells the story of how campaigners took on a government captured by gender ideology and helped end Nicola Sturgeon’s career.
Despite my thorough research for The Twenty Murders, I was still shocked by some of the stories, in particular the nefarious behavior of some MSPs, and the article about trans-identified males in women’s prisons by Rhona Hotchkiss, a retired governor. And of course, JK Rowling’s contribution is simply wonderful, as you’d expect.
Although TWWWW denied The Twenty Murders the chance of a bestseller rosette in Amazon, I rejoice at its release and I hope it sells many, many copies. I’ll certainly be buying a few to give to friends and family, and I urge every woman (and every man who cares about the women and children in his life) to read it too.
The fight is not over, and I believe that women will once again have to mobilise as a sex-based class to win it.
Women will not wheesht!
Drew.
