Drew’s News — I’m writing this while I still can

March 31, 2024

Tomorrow, April 1st (April Fool’s Day — how apt!) the new Hate Crime Scotland Act takes effect. This legislation aims to protect vulnerable groups from prejudice on the basis of age, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity, or variations in sex characteristics. Sounds reasonable until you realise biological sex is not mentioned — so women and girls are not protected from hate speech.

This is a deliberate move by the Scottish government to ensure gender-critical opponents are criminalised for their beliefs. So, if you were to ask a male who claims he’s a woman to leave a female-only changing room, you will fall foul of the law, not him. Similarly, if a father challenges a man following his daughter into the ladies toilet, the dad will be criminalised, not the boundary violator.

NO EVIDENCE of malice or ill-will is required for a hate crime or incident to be recorded, only the perception of it. This will inevitably open the door to all sorts of vexatious complaints by the type of men who would do women harm. It may also silence authors like me, so I’m posting this while I still can.

My purpose in writing The Twenty Murders (which will be released soon) was to surface the issues around transgender ideology, its pernicious effects on women’s rights, our institutions, the violent misogyny from Trans Rights Activists (TRAs), and its devastating impact on children. Gay rights are at risk from this movement because of the ‘forced teaming’ of LGB with TQ+, particularly the attempts to gaslight lesbians into sleeping with trans ‘women’. Even the rainbow-coloured Pride flag has been appropriated along with female-only spaces, sports and language. Transgender ideology is an insidious cult masquerading as a civil rights issue.

Freedom of speech and association — the very foundations of our democracy — are under threat from the extreme fringes of this movement. TRAs do not want reasonable and respectful discussion (they chant, ‘Trans women are women. No debate!’). They want to dictate what we think and say, and punish and silence dissenters. Women are told ‘be kind’; however, I don’t see this mirrored on the other side. Take a look at the vitriol at: https://terfisaslur.com/. So, although this story is a work of fiction and no murders occurred, the backdrop is based on fact (see my website for sources).

I decided to base the story in Scotland which has been on the sharp end of the trans cult, with the Scottish parliament voting to pass the Gender Recognition Reform (GRR) Bill that would allow any male aged 16 upwards to acquire a female birth certificate purely on his say-so. Women’s groups were not consulted, and those who campaigned against it because of concerns about safety were dismissed as transphobes.

However, our worst fears were confirmed when the news broke that the violent double rapist Adam Graham (aka Isla Bryson) was being housed in a women’s prison. Wearing a blonde wig and a shock-frock, Bryson became the poster boy for the gender-critical movement. The Scottish public began to ask why their government was hellbent on forcing this legislation through at the expense of protecting women. The point was later punctuated by the horrific attack on a schoolgirl by the cross-dressing paedophile Andrew Miller.

The First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, resigned but her lackey Humza Yousaf was determined to go toe to toe with Westminster on self-id. Fortunately, Westminster won that fight and put a stop to the GRR. For now. The next battle will be against the Conversion Therapy bill which, if passed, will criminalise any parent, teacher or therapist who does not automatically affirm a child’s trans identity, resulting in unlimited fines and up to seven years in prison.

I first became aware of the issues posed by trans ideology in 2021 when I read about the abuse targeted at JK Rowling. I read her thoughtful, compassionate and considerate blog and found myself agreeing with her. I ‘peaked’ when the Scottish parliament passed the GRR, and the SNP-Green coalition government refused to concede amendments to exclude rapists and registered sex offenders from self-identifying as women.

I’ve been deeply concerned ever since — so much so that this book is the result — and I would like to thank my friends and family for their help and support in developing it.

I did not approach literary agents for representation since the traditional publishing industry has also been captured by the high priests of trans theocracy. Stating that biology is real and trans women are men would never get though the ideological filter. Instead, I will trust the open market and the good sense of readers to decide what they consume, and not the wokerati gatekeepers and their ‘sensitivity’ readers. Orwell’s Records Department at the Ministry of Truth where Winston rewrites historical documents so they match the Party's twisted version of events is chillingly prescient.
