One girl is dead. Another is missing. And powerful people will kill to keep the truth buried.

When the body of a vulnerable teenage girl is discovered in a derelict warehouse, Detective Constable Morven MacLeod is called to investigate what appears to be a tragic drug overdose.

But this is no ordinary murder investigation.

The dead girl was a resident of Forth View children’s home — a failing care institution where troubled young girls vanish through the cracks of a broken system. No one reported her missing, the staff are evasive, and crucial CCTV evidence is mysteriously delayed. And every step of Morven’s investigation uncovers darker secrets involving exploitation, organised crime and institutional corruption.

As Morven digs deeper into this chilling mystery, she discovers a web of lies stretching far beyond a single suspicious death.

Meanwhile, her former CID partner Bill, now a private investigator struggling to adjust to retirement, is searching for a missing investigative journalist who vanished while working on a career-defining exposé into criminal corruption at the highest levels.

Two investigations. One deadly conspiracy.

Perfect for readers of Val McDermid, Stuart MacBride, Ian Rankin, Peter May and Mari Hannah.

A murdered woman. A missing baby. A truth more horrifying than either.

When the mutilated body of a pregnant woman is discovered beneath Edinburgh’s Three Bridges, Detective Morven MacLeod finds herself at the centre of this shocking crime. Her partner, the abrasive but brilliant Bill Arnold, is counting the days to retirement — and he has little patience for rookies or red tape.

As the investigation unfolds, what appears to be a gruesome one-off murder quickly reveals a darker pattern. The victim’s unborn baby is missing — and she won’t be the last.

Meanwhile, another pregnant woman begins a desperate journey to Scotland, unaware she’s heading straight into the heart of the same brutal network. As Morven and Bill dig deeper, they uncover an underground industry where human life is a commodity — and the price is always highest for the vulnerable.

Time is running out, and every lead brings them closer to a truth no one wants to face. Gritty, gripping, and disturbingly real, The Three Bridges Murder is a chilling crime thriller perfect for fans of Mo Hayder, Val McDermid, and Karin Slaughter.

A series of murders with nothing to link them … except the message left by the killer

Constable Morven MacLeod is a veteran officer who knows her patch like the back of her hand. But the modern police service is different to the one she joined and Morven needs a change. After discovering the body of a librarian, she joins CID where she’s partnered with Dave Newton, a detective she despises.

When another corpse turns up with the same distinctive signature, Morven and Dave soon realise they are hunting for a dangerous serial killer. But Morven’s theory about what connects the victims is deemed too politically toxic to pursue. It’s the same issue that sees Kerry Connelly hounded from her university position because of her views, and thrust into Morven’s world.

Hampered by senior management within the Scottish police force, Morven and Dave hunt the killer because they know it is only a matter of time before the murderer strikes again.

This dark and disturbingly compelling thriller set amidst the culture war is not for the faint-hearted. Perfect for fans of Mo Hayder, Karin Slaughter and Peter May.
